Cosmetology

Cosmetology students utilize a salon-type environment to integrate academic studies with technical knowledge and skills – in other words they use the knowledge they have learned throughout school to become proficient and employable in the world of hair. Cosmetology’s instructional sequence is designed to provide job-specific training for employment in cosmetology careers, with a strong science foundation if students choose to attend college. Mastery of topics including advanced training in sterilization and sanitation procedures, all facets of cutting, styling, caring for and creative techniques in hair, nail and skin care. The process itself blends online learning, hands-on workshops, exciting guest artists and study trips to successful business partners.

After successful completion of the Cosmetology program, passing the Texas Cosmetology Examination and paying the required fees, students can receive their Texas Cosmetology State License immediately after high school graduation. Student costs involve registration, fees, personal tools and supplies.
