Architectural Design

I began teaching three levels of Architectural Design at the Guthrie Center shortly after I arrived in 2001. After earning my Bachelor of Science Degree from Illinois State University in Applied Housing and Design with a minor in Art, I became a Texas Registered Interior Designer with 23+ years of professional experience. I am currently serving on our Campus Improvement Team and Texas State TEKS review committee. To benefit our department, I have written and received multiple grants and teaching acknowledgements.

During the past thirteen years, my students have participated and placed in the Houston Chapter of the American Institute of Architecture Michael G. Meyers High School Design Competition winning thousands of dollars in scholarship funds. My students and I have actively participated in community service projects such as Habitat for Humanity, Rebuilding Together Houston and CANstruction.

As an advisor for OSA, Organization of Student Architects, I am constantly seeking creative ways to foster a dynamic learning environment and to promote high quality student portfolios for continuous student improvement. Our successful classes have seen numerous students enroll and graduate from prestigious colleges throughout the United States and abroad studying Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering and Construction Science. These students are employed and/or licensed in countless cities around the world. I am privileged to be serving students in the Spring Branch Independent School District.
