The Pharmacy Technician program will provide students who have been completing Health Science classes the opportunity to earn their national Pharmacy Technician certification and immediately enter the field of prescription medicine.

- Health Science Theory no/Clinical and Pharmacology
Health Science Theory is designed to provide for the development of advanced knowledge and skills related to a wide variety of health careers. Students will have hands-on experience in the pharmacy area. This course will include medical terminology specifically to the pharmacy, reading and interpreting prescriptions, dispensing medication and defining prescription and non-prescription drugs by brand versus generic name medication. The Pharmacology course is designed to study how natural and synthetic chemical agents such as drugs affect biological systems. Knowledge of the properties of therapeutic agents is vital in providing quality health care. It is an ever-changing, growing body of information that continually demands greater amounts of time and education from health care workers. These courses must be taken concurrently.
Prerequisite: Minimum C average in Principles of Health Science & Biology
Technical Certifications Attainable: Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED
- Pharmacy Technician Practicum
Interested in the Pharmaceutical field? This is the class for you! You will learn the technical and knowledge base skills and work habits required for an entry level position in the pharmacy field or other related areas. On successful completion of this course and graduation you will have the opportunity to sit for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE). This capstone course is designed for those students interested in pursuing a Pharmacy Tech certification.
Prerequisite: Minimum C average in Health Science Theory/ Pharmacology, Biology and Anatomy and Physiology
Technical Certifications Attainable: Pharmacy Technician (PTCE) and National Sterile Products (IV) Certification
