Hospital Corpsman First Class (SW) Dominic Monita Jr., USN (Ret)

Dominic Michael Monita Jr. was born in San Antonio, Texas, on June 23rd 1972 to Dominic and Rebecca Monita. Upon graduation from Oliver Wendell Holmes High School in 1990, he enlisted in the US Navy, attending recruit training at NTC/RTC San Diego, California.

Twenty years of naval service include graduating both Hospital Corpsman “A” School and Field Medical Service School, certifying as an NREMT, Search and Rescue Swimmer (Surface), Range Safety Officer, Static Rope Suspension Training (SRST) Master, Physical Therapy Technician, and Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist (ESWS) with duty assignments the world over from the Far East to Southwest Asia and back.

Petty Officer Monita graduated Basic Instructor Training at the Trident Training Facility at Naval Base Kitsap in Bangor, Washington, and achieved Master Training Specialist certification while assigned to the Defense Medical Readiness Training Institute aboard Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas, where he served as an instructor for the Combat Casualty Care Course (C4), the Chemical / Biological / Radiological / Nuclear / Explosion (CBRNE) Responder Course developed by the DMRTI, and the Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) Course developed by the National Association of EMTs (NAEMT). After retiring from military service in 2010, HM1 Monita has taught as a Navy Junior ROTC Instructor for Houston ISD for seven years and most currently for Spring Branch ISD.

Dominic Monita Jr. has earned a baccalaureate degree in Healthcare Management, is certified as a Navy Junior ROTC Instructor, and is married to the former Ms. Eliana Mejia of Calarcá, Colombia. Their family includes Dominic M. Monita III, Brandon S. Monita, Heather E. Monita, and Eduardo Palés.
