Are you a creative teen who loves movies, editing, or telling stories through video? The Filmmaking Program at The Guthrie Center is the perfect place to turn your passion into something real—and have a ton of fun doing it! In this exciting hands-on program, you’ll work with professional equipment, learn from award-winning filmmakers, and even earn college credit through our partnership with Houston City College (HCC). By the time you finish, you'll have an HCC Filmmaking Level 1 Certificate and a serious head start on your future.

This program goes way beyond the classroom. You’ll write, direct, film, and edit your own projects—working side-by-side with classmates to bring your ideas to life. Using editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro you’ll build a professional reel that shows off your skills and creativity, preparing you for college, film school, or even entry-level jobs in the industry. Collaboration is at the heart of filmmaking, and here you’ll learn how to be part of a real production team. Along the way, you’ll enter your films in festivals and competitions, including SkillsUSA Digital Cinema and Video Production, where you’ll get to connect and compete with other young filmmakers from around the state.

At The Guthrie Center, you’ll also hear from amazing guest speakers and industry pros who’ve worked in TV, film, and online media. Through partnerships with media organizations like Luminary Productions and the Tyler Sanders Foundation, you’ll have access to mentorship opportunities that can help guide your career and inspire your next big project. And because this is a dual credit program, you’re building your college future while doing what you love right now.

By the time you finish the program, you’ll have a professional-quality reel, valuable certifications, real experience, and a network of fellow creatives who share your passion.
